The iPhone 5 was in development to be launched in 2011 until Steve Jobs had it scrapped. Rumors that then Apple CEO Jobs didn’t like the iPhone 5 in development early on in 2011 as it had “a screen to big” and was fragmented from previous Apple iPhone designs.

Everyone from Apple engineers to management were shocked when Jobs scrapped the iPhone 5 just 3 months prior to the iPhone 4s release. This version of the iPhone 5 was meant to revolutionize the Phone industry again with features  to rival the Samsung galaxy s2.

Features of the cancelled iPhone 5

  • Metal back similair to the iPad 2
  • 4 Inch screen
  • 10Mp camera
  • Special home button “was not a physical press button. You could touch it and hold it and physically reboot the device,”
  • Far more powerful than the iPhone 4s and 4

The rumored metal back may come from new technology Apple has developed. Its been dubbed “liquid metal” and if it looks half as as cool as it sounds, we are in for a unique back plate to the iPhone 5.

Its a given that the iPhone 5 should be more powerful than the previous iPhones. Apple will most likely pull this off with a quad core Apple A6 chip in the works. Dedicated graphics chips will also go along way to cementing the iPhone 5 as a serious player in the power stakes against certain powerful Android devices.

We speculated alto about a bigger screen and why Apple needs to make sure the iPhone 5 is atleast 4 inches diagonal. Why would Steve Jobs state the cancelled iPhone 5 had a screen to large? He  did say the same the Samsung Galaxy Tab’s 7 inch screen was to small to be a useful as a tablet. Was he right or wrong their?

These rumours come from a tech industry insider who was interviewed by Businessinsider.com. His last hot iPhone 5 tip noted it may come in all sort of weird psychedelic colours such as pink and blue.
